Post subject: yelling at people who let their dogs run loose & attack my dog
Archived from groups: alt>pets>dogs>pitbull (more info?)

I don;t care aobut politelness at that point. I will yell and even use
the F word,
because at that point I care more about the dog's well being than about
the poor puny feelings of the person who does not care enough about
dogs
to keep his on a leash.

This happened last night - I took my pit bull out for a walk. I keep
her on a leash,
and I also keep her muzzled because she eats garbage off the grass and
gets
sick & vomits on the carpet easily. She can get out of both though.

I saw this dog off in the distance, and decided to go back the way I
came, but
it was too late, the other dog already saw us and came running. It
started to attack
my dog, and I started yelling at the owner. She was not happy about my
"rudeness",
but I don't care, I'm trying to impress upon her that she needs to keep
her dog on
a leash from now on, period. Fortunately she got her dog before
anything happened.

Why don't people care more about their own dog's safety, even if they
don't care
about other people's pets?

This also happened with another dog, some kind of chihuahua mix. Nasty
little thing.
I yelled at the owner to keep her dog on a leash, and it had no effect.
She kept letting
it out to run around loose. Then we noticed it tries to bite people
too. It did this to my
b/f. The dog would hide and then try to ambush people as they walk out
to their cars,
and try to bite them on the leg.

It tried this on me next, and I followed it home. The owner would not
answer the door,
so since I could not confront the owner directly, I put a notice on her
door and over
the public mailbox area that I would use mace on the dog, and call
animal control,
if I ever see it running around loose again. That worked, but I should
not have to go
to such an extreme.

I guess that's the only thing that she cared about. She certainly did
not get it that my
dog could kill hers.

The other one was much bigger, though, and that was even more cause to
be concerned.

Getting People's attention now is like having to hold up a sign. Saying.
hey my Pit Bull might possibly attack that squirt of a dog you have
there. It falls on deaf ears.
