Post subject: I don't know what is wrong with my poodle's behavior! Please help!!
Archived from groups: alt>med>veterinary (more info?)

I'm taking care of a toy poodle who is extremely nervous almost all
the time. The reason I am taking care of her is because she wouldn't
eat and almost died. My friend is having some health problems so I
took her home to try and get her to eat. I took her to the vet and all
her blood work was fine except her glucose was very low because she
hadn't eaten. She has gained a pound since I have had her for a little
over a week. She was like this before I started taking care of her.
The owner has said that she acts like she has abused her and she
hasn't. She either sleeps and when she is awake she shakes. I have
had to force feed her on occassion because she is so nervous she won't
eat. I've tried to take her for walks and she's too scared. She looks
around all the time like something is going to get her.
I also think she may be going blind and deaf. She's only 7 years old.
Sometimes when I pick her up she is fine and sometimes she shakes and
won't stop.
What could cause this? Could it be some kind of nerological disorder?
It pains me so much to see her like this...
Thanks in advance for any comments..

I think she just thought the dog was not eating and that was her main
concern is to start her eating again. I have an appointment with an
internist on Monday so I will have more answers then. Thanks for
replying!

This is her last her blood done and here is the results

BUN/Creatinine Ratio HIGH 40/lab range 4-27

Calcium Low 8.6/lab range 8.9-11.4mg/dl

Glucose LOW 49/lab range 70-138 mg/dl

Neutrophils HIGH 80/lab range 60-77%

Eosinophils LOW 1/lab range 2-10%

Platelet Count HIGH 626/lab range 170-400

Is this consistent with Addison's dIsease or something else?
I'm going to take her to an internist Monday, but I would llike to
have some idea when I take her in.

Thanks so much!!

I took her to the internist and he ran a test for Addison's and it was
negative. He didn't have any other answers. Since she appears blind,
I took her to an eye doctor and he ran tests and said her eyes were
fine. She seems disoriented and nervous. She's only 7 years old. I am
taking her to a Neurologist in less than 2 weeks.
Does anyone have any thought about this? Thank you!
