Archived from groups: alt>pets>rabbits (more info?)

For peace of mind in knowing that I was doing all that I could for my Gracie
I scheduled another vet visit yesterday with the uber-vets here in STL.
They are the most knowledgable rabbit vets probably in this half of the
state as they treat all the HRS rabbits and an extensive exotics client
base.

They told me everything that I wanted to hear and actually gave me some hope
that we can beat these abcesses and have our baby back. We scheduled
surgery for next Wednesday where she will have both abcesses removed (yes, I
felt another lump Tuesday and there is no way the first vet should have not
been able to feel it), practically her entire chest area cleaned up and
beads put in. I knew we were on the right track when he started talking
about the beads. For now I don't have to torture her anymore by flushing
her pus pocket as it is doing absolutely no good because another abcess has
formed behind what used to be the original. We are however going to be
doing Bicillin injections every other day for a minimum of 3 months. I have
never given an injection before and I am terrified of needles so it should
be fun. Ha. Tomorrow is our first go of it so wish me luck.

Grace remains in good spirits and is eating her pellets right now. Tonight
she will get special playtime upstairs so we can monitor pooping more
closely. I will post as much as I can to keep you all updated.

Danielle, Barnabas and Gracie (I was violated yesterday! Nothing should go
in the OUT hole!!!)
and the other 8.

Danielle - I've been following Gracie's situation and am so glad you seem to
have the best working on getting her healed! After seeing Gracie and Tristan
in the bunny porn video I've never been able to think about rabbits humping
without smiling and laughing thinking of Gracie!

Glad she seems to be doing so well and that the abscess is walled off from
important stuff from the sounds of it! Her strength will serve her well for
this one. She is a pissy bunny - and I LOVE pissy bunnies!

Hugs and healing vibes -

Danielle,

Sending you hugs and best wishes for Gracie.

It's amazing what we can do when our babies need something.

And with Barnabas' extra set of hands, I'm sure the shots will go smoothly.

Hope for happy updates. It's nice to see you back!

I'm so glad you have a really rabbit savy vet to work on Gracie. Good luck to
her with the surgery. Give her lots of kisses.

Injections don't seem to bother buns much ... Mine don't even flinch. Like
Mickey suggested, practice on an orange first. I've found that it's best to pick
the correct site for the injection then insert the needle quickly. (less pain
that way) You'll do fine.

Good luck for you and quick healing vibes for Gracie.

All paws and fingers crossed for Gracie. If anyone can beat this thing, she
can. Thank goodness she has a good team on her side. I hope that she gets
better fast and that there are no more abscesses ever.

Waiting for good news.
