People don't go around badmouthing their lieu of residence, being a
country, province or municipality.
Your cause will never gain momentum because in essence, you're
antagonizing people in the worst way by insulting their culture and history.

I'm surprised you're an older person. You frankly come across as a
prepubescent intolerant perfectionist that can't stand other members of
the society in which you are a member. If you haven't grown up until
now, you probably never will.

Hi Niko,

You call the abuse of animals "culture"? Interesting! I didn't think of
this.

And how do I insult Greek history? In every posting I cite the great
historic Greek men whose cognitions I deeply respect but others seem to have
forgotten long ago:

As long as man continues to be the ruthless destroyer of lower living beings
he will never know health or peace. For as long as men massacre animals,
they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain
cannot reap joy and love. (Pythagoras)

or

The soul is the same in all living creatures, although the body
of each is different. (Hippocrates, Greek physician)

I have more in my collection, reaching from Epicur to Kazantzakis...

> People don't go around badmouthing their lieu of residence, being a

Showing openly my anger about abuse of animals and criticizing this evil
behaviour is badmouthing? Your opinion is rather strange because it implies
that not the criminal is the villain but the one who discovered and reported
the criminal.

I assume that you also are convinced that Greek animal welfare activists too
are not allowed to call the abuse of animals what it is, that is the abuse
of animals? Just because the abuser is Greek too? Oh my, what a logic! And
it reveals your character more than you really wanted!

Regina

It's more likely that Regina spends so much time around Chania because it's
a wonderful place, because of the Cretan mountain air, because of the
beaches, because of the hospitality of the local people (which Regina repays
in her own inimitable way).

If care for animals were a real mission for our Regina she would of course
have gone to places where animals are worse off than in Crete. There are
many such places. But Regina prefers to continue to enjoy the easy life in
Crete.

Henry.

WRONG, dimbulb

The TURKS ruled their pesky little conquored greek slave serfs for 500

The only pervert I see here it's you...
I am a great lover of animals, we have a cat and we even sleep with him in
bed!
In all my life I have sheltered and took care of animals that I found in the
streets with wounds, etc.
But once in my life I couldn't avoid and I hit a cat with my car!
I tried to don't hit her but it was a street of fast circulation and
although I steered right and left as much as I could, the cat was always
heading towards I was steering!
I also couldn't stop and see what happened with her because there were cars
coming fast behind me and if I would stop I would cause an accident.
Am I considered one of those "pervert" Greeks as you say?
Have it passed from your minuscule mind that a percent of the animals you
find
dead on the streets may be victims of the speed and not deliberate victims
of some Greek "perverts" who are chasing them around?!...
I am sure it hasn't, your anti-Greek hatred is blinding you so you are
interpreting a sad event the way it suits your "PERVERT" purpose to
denigrate
Greece!
Attention, I am not saying there are not two-legged animals who are killing
animals for pleasure, but denigrating an entire country for a few idiots it
places you in the same category of...PERVERT animals!

2) a Greek hater
3) a TROLL

Gogu, I would be glad about your attitude towards animals if you would not
attack me the same time you are telling me how you love animals.

From my 20 years' experience in Greece with Greeks (talking especially about
Crete) I am sorry to say that people like you are the exception and people
as I described are the majority.

Talking about the roadkills WITHIN the town of Chania - 8 in 5 minutes where
you are allowed to drive with 50 kmh only - nobody can believe in
coincidence, especially after I heard one of the Akrotiri officials (next
community to Chania) say how they use to "solve" the problem when they seem
to have to many animals on the street. Remember? He said openly in a meeting
of the city council that they use their cars and everybody was applauding
him. This I call perverted and nobody will ever stop me saying so.

Sad truth is also that every year in the street where we live - IN Chania,
in a "quiet" neighbourhood without through traffic - we have to at least
burry two or three cats that are killed in front of our house every winter.
I. e. the roadkills are too much to believe in "accidents". Our neighbour, a
Greek who owns a very nice hotel, lost two dogs because of poisoning. Two
years ago when walking our dogs on the beach we found a newborn puppy -
still alive! - that was thrown into the sea to die there. Unfortunately I
could not save it. A few weeks later at the same place we found another
puppy with its skull crashed. This terrible event was even shown in the
Chanian TV and reported in a Chanian newspaper because I called them.

And what about the tourists who find puppies and kittens in the rubbish bin
everywhere? Do you imagine how many letters, e-mails and phone calls our
association and our partners on Crete receive every year about abandoned,
abused, tortured and killed cats and dogs? There are thousands!

I have been travelling a lot when I was younger but - sorry - I never faced
so much cruelty towards the innocent fourlegged companions as in Greece.
They aren't only a few as you imply, Gogu, there are too many, there are
more than elsewhere in Europe, that's for sure.

Please keep on goint to love the animals as you do, that's wonderful. But
you also shouldn't condemn those who see the dark sides and name them.

I am not attacking you without a reason, I am attacking your anti-Hellenic
venom and rude manners!
You are the worst advocate your organization could ever have!
With your rude and choleric attitude you are losing any right you could
ever have!
You have a serious attitude problem, seek some professional help!

Me as well all posters understood quite well and they all agree on your
person!
Now don't tell me that you think everybody is wrong and only you are
right;-)
I am sure you know how they are called the people who think that way;-)
I repeat: correct your manners if you want to be taken seriously, if you
want to be respected and if you want to help your cause.
With you rude attitude you are just achieving the opposite...
I wonder if the people of that organization know the way you are "defending"
their cause...

You are not doing only that!
You have clearly said "but hey, that's Greece" in relation of many negative
things, so your contempt for Greece is obvious, you are just admitting that
in your distorted mind everything negative can happen in Greece!
You even said this in relation how the Greek state functions, so yes, I can
assume that you are badmouthing the place you live and you may even be paid
to so *exactly* that!
Your language certainly does not help you convince me or any other decent
person for the opposite...
And Nicolas put it very well...
Blinded by your anti-Hellenic hatred you can't understand that your
language is not only offending those bad quality Greeks who are abusing
animals, but also the decent Greeks who love animals and care about them!
Every Greek animal friend would dislike you after reading your vitriol...
So yes, Nicolas is right, you have a strange way defending your work.
As I said, with your anti-Greek stance you are doing nothing but creating
more antipathy about your organization, your work and of course what you are
preaching...
If you think that this is the best way to help your cause, please go on, but
don't cry when people are not listening to you...
Finally, you are damaging the image of any animal-helping organization in
Greece and you are creating more stray and abused animals!
Well done;-(
