Lately it's only been around 1-1/2 to 2 hours a day. This is out of cage,
crawl all over me time. Wish it could be more.

Weekdays 6-7 hours. Weekends the entire time I'm awake, 16 hours or
so.. He's either on my shoulder, my husband's, the back of the
computer chair, the shower curtain rail supervising showers, stair
railing supervising dogs, the counter supervising and testing dinner
preparation, the table eating off our plates, and towards the end of
the night while watching TV, perched on the back of the couch,
preening, and beak grinding, with a final burst of noise, whistles
before settling down for snooze before real lights out. Hates being
put to bed before dogs.

How do you keep your parrot from getting so attached that he / she
cries as soon as you leave the room or do not have him on your forearm
or shoulder?

I'm just wondering because my little Senegal cries the moment I leave
the room, so I pretty much have to carry him around *everywhere* I go
when I'm home. He starts screaming for me the moment I walk out of the
front door, so I'm just wondering how you're getting away with your
bird not flipping out when you do put him down?

He quiets down once I've been gone for a good 5-10 minutes, but he
seriously goes all out in calling me back, so I'm wondering how some
of you that spend *more* than 8 hours a day with your parrots handle
the situation?

Heh, I do everything you described above with my parrot, so spill the
beans! I'm finally starting to get him to eat other foods. I finally
found something he will eat: Frosted Mini-Wheats!

I take mine to work with me. He sits on the perch behind me all day long.

Basically, he's with me Every Waking Minute.

Cujo will do that. I've discovered that if he has something he's
interested in, he can handle being away from me for short periods of time.

Plastic container lids/caps are good. Empty pens or pen caps are the
best. We have no pens with caps at the office anymore.
