What application were you using? Word, or something similar? I can
research where the appropriate application keeps it's working files.
Otherwise, if you're talking about just this current adventure, it's all
available on Google Groups and on most Usenet servers. We use
news.individual.net, and our hoomin uses the pan newsreader at work (on
his Linux machine) or MT-Newswatcher on his Mac laptop, and they all allow
retrieving all of the messages on this adventure, in threaded format or
chronological format. Would it help if I could bundle all of the messages
together into one file for you?

I tried opening from the "start" menu, from "desktop" where I saved it so I
could get there easily. and it is all just blank. I had more fun "cutting"
pasteing", adding a line to connect or explain. Was the most fun I have had
in a long time. Se how boreing my life is at the moment?! The grankids
loved it and I enjoyed it and when it all went away in a poof I yelled and
scared all three cats and Scooter.

My hoomans don't much care for Microsoft, but sometimes they make some
useful information available. One their web site they have a page on
recovering lost Word files. That page is at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316951
If you go through those steps, you might be able to recover your stuff.
That pages goes through all the steps that Paw was going to research -
looking for copies of the file that might exist on disk, looking for
autorecover files, looking for tmp files, etc.
And in the worst case, if you just can't find any recoverable files, Paw
or I could collect all the messages related to this adventure, put them in
date and time order, maybe dig up some info on each of the characters,
etc. We could maybe pull together enough stuff that rebuilding the journal
wouldn't be too difficult.

what happened, but from so far away it's not possible for me to help
like that.
I run linux and use Knode as a newsreader and I still have the New
Adventure and the Venture threads I believe, If I saved them all as a
text file I could attach them to an email fur you. Wood that be

Yeah, I stayed away fron Vista so really know nothing about it, but
I've been around computers so often that when I sit down in front of
one I can usually figure it out. I do know enough about Linux now that
I can get anything doone that I want to do. It may not be the most
elegant way to do it, but I can do it.
Anyway, I thought you must have some program on your computer for
reading newsgroups and maybe that's something under "Works" which used
to be a suite of programs, like a word processor, and a spead sheet
etc. etc. When you start up the one for your newsgroups tehre must be
some menus at the top and you might try looking at a menu under the
title of "View" or find a menu item somewhere there called "Filter" If
you can check the filter settings there should be one that says "All"
and that will display all the messages in the newsgroup whether you've
read them or not, and you may see all the Venture messages again. That
is *IF* whatever went wrong was that you somehow hit a key that
said "Mark all messages as read" and your filter is set to only display
unread messages, then suddenly you don't see any of them, but they
would still be there... You'd still have to cut and paste them all
again, but you seemed to enjoy that the first time (;-)).
I suspect that the cut and pasted version you were building is still
there too, but somehow not available by the means that you are used to
using. If you can remember the name of the file you were saving it all
in you might use the "Search for Files" utility and find it in an
obscure directory, ("folder" in MS speak). Or if they have a utility
where you can search for the text in a file, you could look for
something with "venture" in it and find it that way.
However, I can start copying the messages in those threads to a text
file that I will build here and I should be able to email it to you
tomorrow sometime. IS the email on your postings your own correct
email? I can then use that. For my email you just have to remove
the "FFFf" to get my correct address. Then we can talk.
Oh. the TV show is still alive and it may take a few weeks or a few
days for me to find out if I am going to the next step. I am working
on what we call a "treatment" anyway, which is my part of the next
step. I will hire a writer to finish it off if and when I get the
official go ahead for this step. But having all my ducks in a row to
start with will help move that along. I am also making some other
business arrangements this week that I really shouldn't talk about till
those eggs hatch, but everything is moving along nicely as of today.
