I switched my dogs at six months, but you should ask your vet who can
observe the growth and weight of the dog far better than we can.

Others can correct me if I am wrong but 4 months seems fine to me.
I have 4 American cockers and I switched them all when they were 4 months of
age.

None have any weight problems, or any other problems for that matter.
They are now 9 and 7 yrs of age ( two are 9 and two are 7)

I keep all my aussie puppies (the ones I have to keep for a bit) and
recommend to the folks that buy them to keep them on puppy chow till
they are at least nine months. They are growing babies and need the
extra nutrition that a puppy chow gives them
