Dogs do love swimming in the sea.
However remember they are only dogs and as such can not always
anticipate problems; so you have to think for them and ensure they come
to no harm. They can be swept out in the ocean currents and lost. Also
they can get tired without even realising it themselves.
I don't think salt water will harm a dog. It may actually help them,
although I am not sure. However the salt (combined with sun and fresh
air) will make a dog very thirsty; so if you take a little bottle of
fresh drinking water to the beach and let him drink afterwards, that
will help a lot.
What sort of dog do you have? Long haired dogs are not so good in water
as their short haired cousins. Also, greyhounds and whippets are badly
affected by the cold.
