Archived from groups: alt>cats (more info?)

I am looking to find a suitable home for each of my tuxedo cats (black with
white markings). Unfortunately, my fiance is very allergic to cats and he
has only one lung due to rare cancer he had when he was 27. Therefore, he
can't afford to be around the cats at all due to his health, so when we get
married it is important that I have found my little guys new homes.

Well, Midnite is mostly black with a little white marking on his chest. He
is 5 years old, his front paws are declawed, he is neutered, and has had
all his immunizations. He is very laid back, and happy to lounge around
the house. Commet is black with a "commet" white strip down his chest and
tummy, and he has white paws. He is 4 years old, and he also is front-
declawed, neutered and has all his immunizations. Commet is a very playful
and affectionate cat. He loves people. Both cats like dogs as they have
lived with a Dachshund their whole lives.

Well, if anyone has any suggestions or any interest in two wonderful cats,
please drop me a line. I love these cats very much and it is so important
that I find them good homes.

Sara

Sara,

First, let me wish you the best of luck in finding homes for Midnite and
Commet. It's unfortunate that you have to give them up, but the situation
is totally understandable.

I wish I was in a position to adopt your boys, but we presently have our
hands full with five kitties. Three of ours are tuxedos, two boys and a
girl, all three less than a year old. Their names are Peenut, Peewee, and
Popie.

I can attest that tuxedos make absolutely wonderful pets, are loving and
playful and a wonderful addition to any household.

I do hope you can find suitable homes for them soon. BTW, what area are
you in, in case I might be able to find someone who is interested?

Last, but not least, congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

Regards...

Sara,

Alas, I am now living in Arizona, although I used to live in the Cleveland
area for many years. Still too far from Cincinnati to know of any
individuals.

That said, however, there are several things you might try. Use Google to
search for cat adoption websites. There are probably some near enough to
you that would be convenient for prospective adoptive individuals or
families.

Actually, I just did a search using "cat adoptions cincinnati" and got the
following results. If you click on this URL you will see how many hits
include the cincinnati area.

http://tinyurl.com/brfs7

Second, you might check with your local PetSmart stores. Here in Arizona
there is an adoption center in every store. They are usually manned by
volunteers from cat rescue groups. If they can't help you directly, they
will probably know of some place that can. It's worth the trip on a
Saturday to talk to someone.

Third, there are no-kill shelters throughout the country that will take in
cats and keep them as long as it takes for them to be adopted. They will
not be put down.

Surely, one of these avenues will work for you. I don't want to see your
boys go homeless any more than you do. I think your efforts will pay off.

Please keep us posted here as to how things are going.

Best regards...

I would agree with Wayne. When I was wanting a cat I checked with a
petsmart and they get cats from our local animal rescue (called Sicsa).
They required an application and don't let just anyone have the pets. I
think that would be a safe route. You may have something similar to that in
Cincy. I live in Dayton. I think there's a fee for dropping them off
there, but if it's your last resort, at least you know they'll go to a good
home.

You might want to see if there's a local Pet Rescue in your area. They
are good at adopting out nice pets. I'd take them, but I'm in Florida.
You can specify that you want them adopted out together.
