No success

Aloha.

I've had no success with my solitude male mouse. He is still stratching
and creating new bald spots. Some spots are getting seriously scratched up
to the point where any more would create bleeding. Very fleshy and fresh.

I've taken most of the advice from this group. Cleaning the house
weekly. HOT SHOT NO PEST strip. Basic diet of boiled brown rice, rolled oats
and fresh carrots (he likes the oats and eats those in a good amount, not so
much rice or carrots) for several weeks now. Neosporin application.
Neosporin with pain relief application. It's not that practical for me to
take him to a vet on my motorcycle, as I do not want to cause any undue
anxiety. I've had no luck finding a fixed female mouse or someone who will
do it, and don't want to put this fellow through it right now in his
situation.

I hate to ask for your opinions on this, but at what point is it best to
let him go? He moves around quickly and fine, but never uses the wheel
anymore. He seems to be eating the oats and drinking. But looking at the
scratching continue and spread, especially with the deep fleshy-ness now, I
can't help but wonder how it's making him feel. Any suggestions where to go
from here? I came across the CO2 method in great detail and professionalism
a couple weeks ago but haven't practiced it, hoping I wouldn't have to use
it.
