My CAG lately has taken up a strange behavior of spitting on her foot
for hours on end. While on her outside perch next to my chair, she'll
hold up one foot while putting her tongue on one area of her foot in a
sort of spitting action. She actually makes a sort of spitting sound
while doing this, and can do this for hours. I've actually seen very
small amounts of what looks to me like spit, on her tongue while she's
doing this.

I've also seen her perform this action on a rubbery toy she once had
in her cage. She would spend hours running her tongue up and down a
small area of the toy while spitting on it.

My guess is this is just a substitute for preening another companion
bird.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed this behavior in other parrots.

Giggle? Is she in love with her toy and her foot? African Greys do the
whole regurgitating thing to feed and perhaps she is doing the same?
How old is she? I know my TAG started regurgitating at about 2 years
old.
