Do snakes have charisma?

I saw a young adder down in cornwall and I was compelled to watch it
slither across a road and disappear into a burrow. It was a magical
moment, but I'm not quite sure why.

I'm particularly interested because I've setup a competition to find
the most charismatic pets and entries are welcome from anywhere in the
world. I'd like to get entries from the more unusual pets, so if you

Are there any thoughts though, about what makes snakes so compelling?

The way in which their emotions are not as obvious as those of a cat or
dog, which makes it all the more rewarding when you do get to know them.

Besides (and this is what does it for me), you wouldn't have thought
that an animal which is nearly blind, has no hearing or limbs to speak
of would do well in evolution, and yet snakes have survived.
