do some breeds smell more than others?

No smell on Border Collies, but all of the Pulis I had or knew smelled. It
was bad when they were washed and left wet for hours (or days, can happen).
When they were quick-dried, they smelled most the first day or so and less
later. This is a smell quite different from usual dogs' smells, more like
tanned leather and not all unpleasent. I can't help thinking that they try
hard not to look and even smell like dogs (presumably in order not to scare
sheep).

Nowdays I have hounds, wire coat, two breeds, very similar, one is nearly
white and no smell (no, I do not wash them often) and the other is sort of
wild-dog-coloured and smells like a respectable dog would.

On Pit bulls I noticed no smell except when they have skin problems, in
which case they are way worse than a three days wet Puli.

Sorry, what I meant by "no smell" was "no stank". All dogs will have a
smell as all people do but I've never met a Boxer that stunk or even that
left a smell behind on your hands.

I think it generally is but in Fancy's case, she just always has bad breath.
Its not enough to knock you out but its noticable. Her teeth & gums are in
excellent condition (I get them done every 6 months) and she eats a healthy
diet so I don't know what causes her bad breath. I see it alot in the
rescues too but then with them it could be health-related.
