I bought an 8inch air stone stick for the back of the tank, but my old
very small pump, only gives enough air to make a few bubbles right at
the start of the stick. Obviously its underpowered.\

What size air pump do you all recommend to get a stick of this size
bubbling?

thx - Craig

Have you tried tilting the airstone so that the end of the stick is slightly elevated compared to the start of the stick?
(put some more gravel under the end of the stick)
Ensure the tubing is not kinked anywhere; that reduces airflow significantly.

Your airstone floats?
If you turn the pump off, does it sink?

Not sure if it is OK to bury the airstone under the gravel to keep it from floating....

At the LFS, they sell plastic suction cups that hold the airline tubing on the other side.
These can be used to secure the airline tubing to any of the tank's sides, and could
help prevent the airstone from floating.
