| We have Cooper our yellow lab. He is quite the shedder. We didn't expect
this from a short haired dog. Is this an all year thing, or just now that
it is spring?

You will have to invest in a really good vacuum cleaner !

I get traces of Luke all over the house, 12 months of the year. You must do
2 things:
1.vacuum like crazy
2. expect the shedding and just "go with it". good luck,

You'd think though with the amount of hair Labs lose, that they'd be bald,
and we'd have strange looking pink skinned dogs running round! :-) >> Stay informed about: shedding ? |

Labs have a thick undercoat which they lose in the spring. We find that
if we brush every day, especially in the spring, we can keep up with it.
WE do need to brush him outside! The birds collect the shed hair for
nesting.

My guys shed more or less year round, *but* they do go through phases.
My yellow guy sheds more than my black guy, also I find good quality
food helps out quite a bit.

As far as I know only a small handful of dog breeds don't shed. So of the
shedding breeds all shed massive amounts, known as blowing, twice a year but
others would say once. Diet, exercise and grooming all affect how much fur
ends up in your house.
Sorry to say it but you should have read up on the breed before getting
involved in a dog.

I just wanted to know if this was seasonal or all year as I know sometimes
it is mostly seasonal. I wouldn't have chosen to adopt a different dog just
based on shedding! >> Stay informed about: shedding ? |

Your dear companion will be there forever for you and so will his/her
shedding. Enjoy! I miss my big boy!
It's only fur, let it go and enjoy your buddy!

I could've created a few extra puppies with all the hair I collect off my
labs!
Get a good shedding combs - those u-shaped combs are quite nice. >> Stay informed about: shedding ? |
