Hi,
I recently had one of my buns pass away. His companion bun is now by
himself, a 7 1/2 year male. He seems to be holding up okay , eating etc. I
am hesitant to get another bun, figuring even though he wasn't the
aggressive one they might not get along..( any ideas here?). plus not sure
with his age how long he will be around, then I will be playing "add- a-
bun" on and on.. I would welcome some ideas for safe toys to keep him
entertained, so far I have just given them apple branches to chew on, or a
few maple leafs with branches, salt/mineral wheels. Thanks so much, katy >> Stay informed about: safe toys? |

I meant to add, they had tp rolls , little tin cans, boxes to play with. I
heard balls were good but wasn't sure about gnawing on rubber , or if they
could chop thru plastic and choke..

Try an old phone book, people here have reported they can be a favorite.
Toby doesn't play with toys much, he considers the dog and cat to be
his playthings.

Toby doesn't go for the baseboards, but did go for the unpainted
drywall behind them when I was replacing in the dining room recently.
Mmmm... gypsum.

One of my buns, Sami, will play with just about everything. He loves
his towel, loves his sisal toss toys, and has great fun tossing around
the metal bowl we try to put under the water bottle to catch drips.
Said bowl usually ends up anywhere but near the water bottle of course.
But i think his favorite are the colored plastic rings hanging from
the top of his cage. They are meant as bird toys, but he has a great
time d\chewing and shaking and making noise with them. I just bought a
larger sturdier version of those rings, with a bell on the bottom, for
my other bun, and he spent the whole night playing with them. I find
alot of the more sturdy bird toys are great for bunnnies, specially the
noisy ones!

Same old. He's well behaved, likes playing with the dog and trying to
sneak up onto the couch to eat my houseplants, and running around the
back yard. His new favorite spot is in the raspberries.
Shedding like crazy right now.

Sheesh. No kidding. Rosie and Patches are shedding - again - for like the
3rd time this year! Rosie is the worst looking rabbit in a shed I have ever
seen - she looks positively motheaten!!!

I'm begining to wonder. Flopsie and Munchkin never shed anything like
I've heard other people here describe with their bunnies. I'm
wondering if I'm not getting them enough protein or something?

Its probably the time of year, both of my bunnys are blowing their coats off
big time and their pellets are 12% protien, i get up in the morning and remove
the visible tufts, come home from work and groom out everything I can, remove
visible tufts before bed, and repeat the same next day, AAAGGGHHH !
What do you do when you see an endangered animal eating an endangered plant?
Is there another word for synonym? >> Stay informed about: safe toys? |

This isn't worst Toby's had, but it's a good one. We need to get into a
serious plucking session... I sit cross-legged with him in my lap and
the vacuum hose to my right. Takes about 20 minutes.
