Post subject: red cap becoming yellow...
Archived from groups: rec>aquaria>freshwater>goldfish (more info?)

Dear All,

I've had two red caps for about one year now.
Very quiclky, I noticed that one of them was always floating, not
necessarily after having fed them..though worst after feeding. I tried to
give him something else to eat, but it never changed. Even when not fet for
two days, I found him floating in the upper corner of the tank while the
other one was doing great. The other one is quite bigger than him.
As I couldn't change nothing to him, I let it like that...He could swim
easily anyway (he floated just when resting)
What matters to me now is that I can see a kind of yellow color under his
mouth, and under his body. And it doesn't seem to be a "natural" color. It's
a strange yellow. And the other healthy one is getting that also, though not
as much as him..

What could it be??? I noticed it a few moments ago, but tought it was some
natural change in his physionomy...

Thanks for your help,

Bruno

Let me know if you find anything out. I have an eggfish that was transparent
when I bought him (billed as red lionhead, lol) then turned cream colored, and
now is cream with a strange yellow color on his head and tail. It's a bright
crayola yellow. He spends most of his time at the top of the water, and has
actually had "sunburn" from his back being out of the water under the lights.
He sort of floats, but upright. He will develop red places along his back
where it sticks out of the water, but a couple of days in the bucket, and he's
back to normal, with no scale loss...

Good luck,

Deanna
