So you'll be plonking TD now? Because that cheap shot she threw was
in response to Peter denigrating everyone who has criticized him, so
it was directed at you every bit as much as it was at me, Suja, or
anyone else.

Like I said, I simply don't agree with jumping all over people before
getting all the information. As an example, if somebody addressed my
husband accusingly about any topic, the first thing he would do is lash back
in kind. The more they hassled him, the more stubborn and defiant he would
become about what ever issue it was.

If you remember diddy, only recently two posters here who shall remain
unnamed, had nothing but negative things to say about Kali's pups. So much
so that once they were born, healthy, all live births, gained weight, nursed
fine, became properly socialized pups, and were placed, I made a comment to
those posters that 'you sound like you would have preferred that these pups
died at birth, had lots of issues, were sickly, so you could say 'see, we
told you so.'

Right after our pups were born, I said 'I thought they looked like huskies',
and then posted that the vet also thought they were some sort of husky mix.
The dynamic duo ragged and ragged on me about how stupid/ignorant/dumb I
was, and that apparently the vet was also an idiot. Turns out we were more
likely than not, correct in our assumptions.

I simply get tired of all the mean-spiritedness in this place I *thought*
would be helpful, supportive, encouraging, and most of all *accepting*.

You know I like you diddy, you have always been helpful to me. And we lost
the loves of our lives so close together. I will never forget how much you
supported me through my darkest of days. And I think you know too that my
heart broke for you when you lost Danny. And in the early days of Tuck, I
was thinking about him, sending postive thoughts that he would be okay after
his encounter with the chicken wing. I also admire the work you and Tuck
are doing now, with children. And I enjoy reading about it here, and only
comment if I think I might possibly have some insight, because I care so
much about the welfare of children too. I would hate for anything to ever
damage our friendship because we have been through a lot together. I
remember your late night postings after Danny, and I remember you being
there for my late night postings after Murphy.

best,

td

You resent it enormously when I comment on your *attachment* to melinda.
Yet you have no problem linking me up to anyone I might agree with at the
moment.

Like I said, are you suggesting the alternative? Abort the litter

Oh, I knew it was probably directed more at me than probably everyone
else. But when he's right, he's right. I am not of the temperament that
should be bred. So I reassured him, it's been handled.

So although we are on opposite sides of the fence, a laugh at a common
truth certainly did not hurt to take a break and smile at.

Some of us tried and were insulted for their efforts, and then you
had to turn around and get your digs in, too.

Of course that was the first thing I did, diddy. She is my baby, I had an

*I* didn't jump all over anyone. I am not the only one either. He was
asked politely, numerous times by numerous people to provide the information
that would let us know that he has done a well thought out breeding. This
entire, long thread could have been completely avoided had he just provided
the names of the dogs or even, the kennel names of the dogs. Heck, he
could've just written privately to someone (with permission) and provided
the information if he didn't want it to be public knowledge, although I
don't know why it shouldn't be public knowledge.

Lordy, your husband must be a tiring man to live with. An adult and yet you
need to be aware that a harsh statement wounds his ego so severely that he
must either withdraw or lash back.

The attitude you describe above indicates that he is more interested in not
being proved wrong than in actually learning what is right.

If my husband had held that attitude - or if I had - then we would never
have been able to work together closely on a daily basis in businesses for
the past 36 years.

I do agree with you. That attitude is very likely to be a part of Peter's
reaction. But what it says about him isn't either reasonable or pretty.

I think it's odd to align yourself with someone like Peter, but if
you value getting a cheap shot in at me at the expense of whatever
integrity you might have, you're Allowed.

There are other options, like just ignoring the subject.

There is a little something called education. This particular breeding has
taken place, but it doesn't mean that the poster doesn't take away something
good from all the back and forths. He may in fact put thought into his next
one, or better still, decide that it is too much work, and not do it again.
For that matter, this forum is public, and there are people other than ones
that are participating that may learn a thing or two, both about how to
become a responsible breeder, and how to find one for their puppy.

> Abort the litter
> immediately?

I don't know when the mating took place, and cannot give advice on how safe
it would be to spay the bitch and terminate the pregnancy. It certainly
could be a viable alternative. Last person I know from the Dane forum that
had bred his bitch lost her to Pyometra. Also, there are fates worse than a
spay here - it's worse all around to produce pups that are in constant pain
and can't have a full life due to structural abnormalities, develop DCM and
drop dead at age two, or develop uncontrollable Wobbler's and have to be
PTS.
