And the fact there are "LOTS" of Great Danes in rescue. They were all
puppies at one time. Everyone of those puppy breeders thought having a
litter of GD's at the time was a good idea, and thought they were being
responsible.
Nothing has been mentioned at all, as yet, the safety network on these pups
that will prevent any of one of them from ever reaching rescue, even should
they all get an original placement. >> Stay informed about: over protective dog |

For whatever reaon, there is not a Dane rescue org. anywhere in my area. All
of the ones I'm aware of allow applications for adoption in specific states
only.

Do you have the resources to care for any dogs whose placements do
not work out? Will you be able to take back and care for any
returned dogs, even 5 or 10 years down the line? What will you do
if your Dane has 15 puppies, and you can only find homes for 10 of
them? Are you in a position to care for five puppies that may never
be able to be placed?
Also, what if any (or many) of the puppies have HD or another
disease that requires surgery or medical treatment? Are you willing
and able to help the owner(s) financially (many breeders will refund
up to the purchase price of the puppy).
Will you be speutering these pups before placing them?
Those are just a few of the things you should be thinking about. It
is by no means an exhaustive list.

That's how rescue is in some areas and for some breeds. If you
don't think it's sufficient, then you could always offer to work
with them to expand their reach. I'm sure they'd appreciate any
help you can give them.
