problem feeding stray dogs

Hi there,

I am living in India. I've been feeding stray dogs in my area for quiet
some time. Now suddenly there has been this problem. One of the dog has
badly sick as it gave birth to a puppy and has aquired some skin
disease. The neighbouring people instead of taking that poor dog to the
doctors are now asking me why are you feeding these dogs.

Today a guy almost tried to get into an argument with me. I am unaware
of wether what I am now doing is right or wrong. If I stop feeding then
the dogs health may further detiorate. Now it has started recovering
and now in a far better condition.

Please advice.

one has a puppy, she will need food to produce milk.

Well otherwise what do these dogs eat? Dirt on the road.. are you
advising me that? Sorry if you felt my message offending. Has it not
mentioned in the holy books to spend 10:10:30:50? so why are everyone
in this world reluctant doing that? Please do spend your 10%. This dogs
in a CITY (humans socialized place previously a beautiful forest) what
you suggest it should eat?
