Can you potty train a gerbil?

We are the proud owners of 2 male gerbils, we've bought them a lovely
potty but do you think they get the message that they're supposed to
use it? After a week of carefully picking up droppings and placing
them in the potty, we've had no luck in getting them to use it. we
were wondering if anyone had had any sucess with one of these things
or should we just give up now? Any help gratefully received!

You have issues, serious ones. Lemmie guess you must use these rodents for
live circus acts on webcam, USING THE POTTY COME ON NOW! Those rodents have
the brain the size of a peanut, how much do you want them to do?!
