Hi:

We have had Toto a year he's a blue budgie.. he has never spoken but sure
has a lovely chirp. We added a girl friend to his life yesterday.
My 8 year old named her Tweety she's gorgeous and yellow.
She is calmer then he was [he was freaked for a few days] - not eating yet but she has chirped back when
he's spoken... anyway she is in his old cage how long does she have to be
there?
She isn't to close to him yet but they hear one another.

Thanks: PLEASE e-mail me -kelly.TakeThisOut@kellys-kloset.com

If you think the bird is in quarrentine, think again. Keeping a bird in a
different room just doesn't cut it. It takes a lot of time and patience to
actually quarrentine a bird from the other birds in your home. Most people
are not set up to do it right and those that are need to be extremely
diligent in preventing "contamination" from occuring - that takes up time
and a lot of people just can't be bothered with the hassle. You may want to
keep the birds seperated until the new one takes a trip to the vet. After
that they may as well be in side by side cages until you are satisfied that
they won't kill each other and house them together.
Personally, I'd just put them together after the vet visit because the odds
of any serious battles between the two is practically non-existant.

So what you are saying is that they will likely not get along at all?

Please explain why you think that this is what I said.

You said " you may want to keep the birds separated until the new one
makes a trip to the vet. After that they may as well be in side by side

them together."

That is what I read in to your "post".

To update the new bird tweety got out of the "old" cage we had her in and
was on top of the cage where our Budgie Toto is.
I took her to the vet (clean bill) and being she did this again we put
them together - they are one.
Truly Toto loves her and she never had an issue with him.
They do all sorts of things to one another and mostly sit together on one
of the perches.
So, so far a great match.

Are they grooming each other?
