I've been looking into getting a corn snake because I understand they are a
good starter snake. The question I have is about the size.

I need one of those small plastic container things because they are afraid
of open spaces for when he's young then when do I transfer him into a bigger
tank & is a 20 gallon tank big enough for when he's fully grown, I've heard
they grow to 4 feet and the tank looks a bit small to me.

I have read that you can control what size they grow to depending on how you
treat them when they are young, is this bad for the snake & do I need to do
this ?

Thanks,
worto.

a 10 gallon is fine for a baby cornsnake but they will need atleast a 20
gallon long when they get bigger. i have my juvenile in a 29 gallon. ill
probably move him to a 55 cuz corns can get 4 to 6 ft.

i find that bad for the snake. just feed him a rodent no bigger then the
widest part of his body once a week. and they will grow pretty rapidly.
prekilled rodents are safer for the snake.

Thanks for the advice, so I'll keep him in the 20 gallon tank for a while &
then transfer him to a bigger one when he's older. Don't worry I wont be
starving him so i can keep him smaller (that sounds a bit harsh to be fair)

If you have any advice on where to buy one & the starter kit from let me
know, I'm in the West Midlands (UK)

I've got to wait until after October 16th because I'm going on holiday for
two weeks & didn't want to leave him for somebody else to look after while
he was young.

worto.
