Hiya all

I'm a new rat owner and loving every minute. I've got two girls and they
arent very keen on sitting still or being held for long, they always want to
be off exploring..Is this normal for girls as my friends male rat is much
more affectionate and willing to sit on laps etc..

The girls are pretty much always more active. That's the toss up in
deciding which to go for really. If you want a cuddly lap rat who won't
seem too intelligent (too busy being dopey) and doesn't provide (in my
opinion) as much entertainment to watch, then pick a boy. If you want a
fast and furious little criter who wont sit still for long and will provide
endless amusement as you watch them implement their plans of escape, hanging
upside down from bars or clinging on to ropes with just one leg befoe they
plummet floor-wards, but wont be interesed in sitting still for long(but
will love the attention and handling just as much), the its a girl you want.
I've had both and loved them equally. The best of both worlds was my
neutered male and his sister. I've got two girls at the moment and I can
sit and watch them for hours making me laugh!
