Well Pippy's neck is better, but now she has little spots on her whiskers
and by her ear, presumably from scratching also. Is there an alternative
to manually trimming her claws? Is there something we can put in there
with her that she'll use to keep her claws down?

I've heard of people putting a brick in the cage for them to run over
too keep their claws filed down. However, one might want consider why
she's scratching so hard. Is it possible that she might have some kind
of skin condition, allergy, or mite infestation that's causing her to
scratch herself? Maybe a trip to the vet is in order.

Trimming claws - My rats' claws are really bloody sharp! They're getting long, too. Can I just trim them a millimeter or two or is there anything I need to be aware of like a vein that goes up the nail like in other rodents. Thanks for any advice.

Nail clipping - Whenever I let the boys crawl around on me, their nails scratch my skin, which then swells up and itches like crazy. Also, the hairless has a few scratches on his skin from scratching himself. How does one go about trimming their nails, or would I just....

Nail filing idea...good/bad? - I was wondering if this idea would work... Glue some very fine grit sandpaper inside one of the plastic rodent exercise wheels. That way, when the rat runs inside the wheel it would (theoretically) keep the nails in check. Feedback?

Help!!!(again) - My vet has just told me that he cannot put Beau on the Baytril/Doxy combi because he does not hold an exotic certificate and regulations will not allow him to treat any rats with it.Has anyone in the U.K been able to treat their rats with doxy and where....
