Hello all,

I am new to this newsgroup and have thriving goldfish in a 55 gal.
aquarium. I'm looking to expand my collection for more exotic types
of goldfish. Are Jikin and Tosakin impossible to find? I am having a
hard time just finding Panda Orandas! I live in Minneapolis and there
are a few "mom and pop" pet stores that have very good selections, but
are there any others "farms" around that have hard to find goldfish?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I hope to post pics soon.

Thanks,
Ed

I'm new to goldfish keeping, but I think a lot of people get their more
"exotic" goldfish from online retailers. If you don't want your fish
shipped to you, you might be able to find a breeder in an area that you
can drive to and pick up fish.

Thanks a ton! I'll give a call. Sauk Rapids is only about 40 minutes away!

I have a 55 gal. with a Magnum 350 Pro and a Bio Wheel 60. There is
also a 24" bubble wall for aeration. Nitrate and ammonia is next to
nothing. There is a problem with water hardness being too high which
is keeping my PH around 8.2, but I am slowly adding in r/o water to
take care of this.

Thanks for the great lead on the veils, but I would really like to get
my hands on a pair of panda orandas and red/black ryukins. I would
prefer them small (2 - 3"). I've been looking locally for months.

Thanks,
Ed

Ed,

I have Veils from Al Foster and my pH is usually around 8.0 - 8.4 all the
time.

Lots of luck on the Panda Orandas and the Red/Black Ryukins. These two
color combinations for the most part are not stable through the fish's
entire life. You may start out with Pandas but chances are they will end up
white. The same with the Red/Black which will eventually end up Red.

I took the trip to Sauk Rapids this afternoon to visit Al Foster.
Goldfish JACKPOT! Bristol's, Veil's, Edon's, Ranchu's, and too many to
drool about. I had to leave, otherwise I would've been a poor man!
WOW! The selection is incredible!

Thanks to all for the leads!
