This morning I saw my cat with a tiny mouse sitting in front of her. The
mouse wasn't badly injured so I put her outside away from my cat. I'm
wondering if anyone can tell me what kind of mouse it was. It's body was
around 1.5" and her head was around the same size as the rest of her body (I
named her Stubby because her body apart from her head looked tiny). Her
eyes were also fairly big. She was brown and hopped around a lot instead of
ran. I live in Ottawa, Canada. Does anyone know what kind of mouse it was?
Whatever it was it was really cute!

Was the underbelly white? If so did it change from brown to white sharply?
Was the tail strongly bi-colored(dark on top and white on the bottom)? Did
it have white feet with brown heals on the hind legs?

I think I accidently replied directly to you so I'll rewrite my reply here.
I think the mouse was completely brown. The mouse returned a couple days
ago and I found my cat playing with her again. So this time I brought the
mouse down the road.

if it's a female, she probably has babies in the area.
