So, roughly a year ago I took my kids to the Bronx zoo and a pitbull
somehow got into an area with a jaguar. I can tell you that it was not
pretty. I had the feeling that if the terrier ever got hold of the
jaguar it would be all over, but the jaguar was too fast and agile. The
terrier would lunge for the jaguar only to be torn to ribbons by the
jaguar's claws. Seriously, the cat was moving its paws so fast you
couldn't really even see it happen. You just saw these long, bleeding
strips sort of "appear" on the pitbull, until after a while it looked
like it was just dissolving. I mean, all you could see was blood.
Fortunately, when the pitbull started getting weak from blood loss the
jaguar held off and some people were able to get the dog. My
understanding is that it survived after it received the medical care it
needed. I'll tell you this much, though, I have a newfound respect for
these large cats. This thing was freaking amazing. Has anyone else ever
saw anything like this?

What I really wonder is how a pitbull got into a freaking zoo in the
first place! I hope someone got fired for that one.

Got a news link to that story? It's definitely one that would have come
across my computer and I can't recall that at all! It certainly is
something to remember though! :-)

Jaguar are incredible cats....not the biggest of the big cats, but the
strongest in terms of jaw strength. They are the only big cat to be able to
break open turtle and tortoise shells and have a nice snack.
