Post subject: introducing new cats

My girlfriend and I are moving in together, she has 2 cats and I have 2.
Any suggestions for introducing them, or should we just let it happen.

For a couple of days it makes sense to keep the two couples separated by a
door, so they can see and hear each other without the physical threat.
After 48 hours of knowing about each other their curiosity can more easily
eclipse their fear. The actual pecking order will ultimately determined by
them down the road.
