Hi; we have a Yellow nape Amazon, 17 years old, female, talks, whistles,
sings and miscelaneous utterances. We got her from my mother.

To be honest, we both work and are not able to dedicate her the quality time
she deserves and is driving my better half up the proverbial wall.

We live in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.

Any idea what amount would be fair to ask for her ?

Thanks and be well.

Fair price depends on how people friendly. And how much you need the money.

I, and most of us here, are more interested in finding a good second hand
bird a good owner rather than recouping money. If you really know birds, it
is really difficult to find them a good home.

I have an 18 yo Congo African Grey and 17 yo Rosie Cockatoo given to me. I
promised not to sell them and to care for them well. The previous owner has
visited twice in three years and found gentle, loving and well cared for
birds. If I was to pass, I'd insist the birds go to someone that will take
good care for them, and any food or vet expenses can be handled without
financial crisis.

Thanks for the reply oldmolly.

To answer your question quite candidly, both.

I love the bird and although she's more bonded with my wife she'll play and
gambol with me.

Again as I said, we both work and she deserves more quality time.

So whomever is going to decide to take her better take good care. And since
the decision has been made, yes, I'm curious as to what is the value of the
bird.

Hi Kevin.

I don't "need" the money, that is not the issue, not getting testy here,
sorry.

As with big parrots they take their time to "bond". With my wife it took a
relatively short time, women's voice do have an effect. With me it took
longer as at first she would just tolerate me. Even now, if my wife is
holding her I have to be a tad cautious when I extend my hand to her.

As I mentioned she was my mother's, but her husband was the one that gave
her quality time the most. For whatever circumpstances that have no place
here I "inherited" the bird six years ago. We live in a condo and she has a
big cage. When we're home we move her to the back porch so she can cavort
on a big branch that I hung from the ceiling.

Be well.
