hi im new and needing help finding that special dog :)

hi im josh and ive been loking for the past month or so for a new best friend one that will go fishing with me and likes to go for rides when its cold i like to play games and stuff im married with no kids yet i have a bird ( pine-apple green check conure) that we also have so im needing a dog that wont look at my little buddy as a meal we have a small house but im not wanting a small dog i would like a medium to a large dog that smart and be a watch dog but ive never had a dog before so im not to sure what kinda dog would be good for me and my family
need some help picking a good breed
