You should never even hit your dog. That's animal abuse. What you
can do is buy your dog a choke collar( not an electric collar ) that
will just remind it not to pull so hard on the leash.

When your dog does something that you don't like, let it know that
it did something wrong, but control your impulses

I occasionally play the bongas, but partial to the side action
drum. Boxers are well built for it. Also, butt-drum.

Oh, yes. Those are fun, too. I also like to hold Harriet's ears
at the base, clamped between my index and middle fingers, and flap
them back and forth. It makes a very silly sound, and she seems to
really enjoy how it feels.
