You're not really going to get anywhere by having a "yes it was," "no it
wasn't" debate. Why not just say that there's a disagreement, the person
you tried to help has reached a decision about the future of her mouse and
leave it at that? At least then we don't all fall out.

I think that's pretty much what I did. but you know how it is with writing -
it's a skill, and what sounds good in your head doesn't always come across well
or clearly in someone else's. probably why gbomerso thinks I was
condescending. you can tell I'll never get paid anything for my poor writing.
anyway, he said he took the mouse to a vet, so I'm happy.
