I own two degus. One male and the other is female. All the two of
them do is fight and I'm afraid that the male is going to injure or
kill the female. Is this normal behavior? I talked to someone in one
of the hotmail chats and they said that fighting is a way to establish
dominance and is normal with two degus in the same house. What is
"normal" fighting and how should I handle it when the Missy and
Chocolate start fighting?

You could wait until one draws blood from the other but if you don't want to
wait that long it is best to seperate the two right now.

Degu's are normally quite peaceful with each other however, there are always
exceptions.

Fighting is certainly one way to establish dominance, but degus normally get
along pretty good with each other. In fact if they are not with another degu
they quite often get very depressed and lethargic. Is it possible he thinks
its time to mate and she doesn't?
We have 4 degus. (all male) They all get along just fine. We did have some
difficulty introducing #3 to 1 & 2. Seemed to want to fight, just like you
describe. We placed the new one in a smaller wire cage inside the larger
cage and just let them get to know each other for several days. Introduced
them slowly after that, for a few minutes, supervised, at a time. It took
about two weeks before we were really comfortable leaving them alone
together but eventually they worked it out. Make sure everybody has had
enough to eat prior to placing them together.
