BNG. At first I only had the 10 gal a quarter full, not knowing if meds
in the water were in order..? Changed it twice already with my super
water. :) I have water in my 55 that's been up and running for over 14
years No decorations in the hospital tank. I called a lady named JoAnne
and she advised me to pat dry the affected areas and apply Neosporin
Cream once daily. First treatment last night. Half of the abrassions on
his head visibly healed over night and the main injury on his side is
not looking nearly as angry.She said I was lucky I didn't kill him with
such a long salt bath. What is the correct salt to water mix and time
period? Over all he, (It is a male) has weathered the ordeal better
than I expected. I"ve offerred food both times before water changes,
but he refuses. I like the idea of interal antibiotics rather than
putting chemicals into the water, but I live in a "One horse town" and
I'm quite sure our little hick pet store does not offer medicated food.
Any suggestions? My vet will call into the pharmacy first thing Monday
morning for anything I need. I just realized I have forgotten my

Hi Rhonda, Good to meet you! I'm married, just celebrated our eleventh
year. I live in Ohio and have had many different types of pets over
the years. I have had horses since I was a teenager and still enjoy
hitting the trails on a nice weekend. I believe I have been keeping
fish for about four years now (give or take) it all started with a gift
of a betta in a vase. After that all heck broke loose. I now have
nine cycled tanks up and running ranging from ten gallons to fifty five
and countless 100% change uncycled betta tanks. I also have four dogs,
one cat, seven guinea pigs, one hamster, one rabbit,and three
cockatiels. As for fish, I have african cichlids, fancy and common
goldfish, a few different catfish, male and female bettas and a few
snails. Whew! I do believe thats it lol They keep me busy thats for
sure. What type of dogs did/do you show? Australian Shepherds are my
favorite although at the moment I dont have one.

Did you talk to JoAnn Burke? If so, you went to the right place for
help as she has many years and knowledge of keeping goldfish : ) As
for your question on a salt dip, here is how I do them. 1/2 cup salt
(use either aquarium salt or salt with no additives) per gallon of
water. You want to predissolve the salt in a bucket of water (either
tank water or fresh dechlorinated water matching temp to that of tank
water) then put your fish into the salt water bath. Thirty seconds for
small or stressed fish is sufficient. If the fish is not showing signs
of distress you can leave it in the bath for up to five minutes.
Generally the fish will come up to the top of the water (maybe on it's
side) poke the fish and it should dive and swim if it does not then
remove it to fresh water.
