I am probably going to adopt a dog..they said she is doberman/german shep..just
wondering what you think what else she might be and answer some questions..

- 50 pounds
- dog has the doberman looking colors
- has a slender tail
- the ears when erect are like a german shep, not like a doberman's BUT the dog
to my curiousity can move them to make them limp or move them to the side..that
is what i am most curious about. i know dobermans' ears are more curvy and has
a sharper point than a german shep's dog, and the dog's ears look close to a
german shep, but she can make them partially limp (doesnt go all the way down
lika a lab)
- and what else could the dog be since she is just about 50 #?
-she is black and tan, and doesnt have any transitition colorations like a
german shep does between the 2 colors..it is a pretty hard contrast like a
doberman or a rottweiler

any ideas or ideas on what can constitute the small size? the shelter isnt
quite sure
-also, the dog ignores cats
-

It doesn't have any GSD or Dobie blood in it. Perhaps it is an Australian
Kelpie, or a Kelpie cross?

Most dogs with natural, erect ears can move them like that. About all spitz
breeds can as well as podenco breeds.

Dobermann ears look like that just because they are cropped. Naturally they
are rather large, soft, droopy and have rounded tips.

A pic of the dog would help in guessing the breed(s).

are you sure a kelpie? i just looked up the breed and its traits are
absolutely nothing like what i saw...this dog ignores cats, only sleeps in a
crate with a blanket on it, and is quiet and voluntarily goes in a crate during
the day, but is active in the evenings...

if its part kelpie, what else could it possibly be??? any help would be
appreicated since i cant have a kelpie, border collie etc...

the dog is a female, 50 # which i think is bigger than a kelpie too....any
other possibilities, or what do you think it could possibly be mixed with the
kelpie?

Please post a color pic, including your dog's face, to alt.
binaries.pictures.animals, and be sure to include SOMETHING to
reference the size of what the dog actually is. Maybe your hand or a
ruler or yardstick.

AND PLEASE - FILL THE VIEWFINDER, so the dog isn't just a speck to
squint at.

Then post in here what the subject if for your post in
alt.binaries.pictures.animals.

Descriptions aren't usually adequate.

Generic dog size.

Actually, there are a lot of breeds that are black and tan.

How does the dog carry the tail?

Actually, that's not the case. The pointy ears you associate with the Dobe
are actually the result of cutting off half of the dog's ears when they're
puppies, then forcing the remnants to stand up in an un-natural fashion by
taping them. NORMAL Doberman ears are floppy.

Aren't some dobermans' ears very mobile? I've seen a couple of dobes who
have (for lack of a better term) greyhound ears that can fold back on the head
when the dog is relaxed.
