hi i live in a very old house.. i can hear mice sometimes in the
walls. i dont care about that. right now.. but they are coming into
the house.. they did last year. and i plugged the floor heaters where
they could get in. then no mice.. now this year. they are again
looking for a nice warm place to live. i set humane traps. when i
catch them. i take them for a ride and place them in an undisclosed
area where they can live their lives peacefully... anyway. i've
checked every single nook and crannie in this house. and i cant find
out where they are coming in.. oh please help me. and dont tell me to
kill them i wont do that and it wont solve my long term problem..
please email me.. thank you so much

How long do you leave the door open as you are going out?

then can get in in a second.

Put a grating on your chimney....

check where ducts are to the outside (from Dryers etc.) and grate them.

If there is even the tiniest crack in the house..and food is left
un-sealed up....they will get in.

For a "natural" alternative (and remember I love mice) you can always get
a cat. If it is a natural death...I don't have as much problem with it.

Good luck

Bren

ps. remember this is a pet newsgroup..not a Pest newsgroup.

mice will chew open new entrances, too. but usually they don't have to. check
under your sinks in the kitchen and the bathroom, in the backs of your
cabinets, behind the bathtub and washer/dryer. pretty much everywhere.

they can climb any distance too. check above ground level as well, outside and
in. mice are a lot like ants - they leave little chemical trails, and other
mice follow them.

they can jump, up to eighteen inches.

RIP mouse

Some of us like peanut butter.

Go figure.

??? okay I don't get that. Pest groups can have people who want
to rid themselves of pests in a non-harmful way no?
No need to get upset.

Again..no need to get upset over someone letting you know what group this
is.
Point is...a pet group is for people who have pets or who want to keep
them as pets...not how to get rid of something. I don't understand people
who get miffed so easily!
The person who talked about the knife is a basic troll who justs NEEDS to
get a reaction from others...no need to give him what he wants...it's
pathetic really...and rather boring.

I apologize if my message to you sounded insulting...but I did not mean it
that way at all. You inferred more from my message than what was there.

Blessings

I doubt that's much consolation to the mice. Personally, I'd rather be
instantly killed by a blow to the neck than be fatally played with by a
cat.

Heather

True..but in nature...cats kill and eat mice. Some just kill them. Many of
us are not vegans and we create pain and stress by what we do also. Drink
Milk? you help the veal industry...and so on and so forth. I am just
saying that at least you are not killing something because it just is not
where you wish it to me (heck I don't even kill spiders).

Well, I think anyone interested in humane removal is much more likely to
get
a sympathetic response on this newsgroup. I've looked through Google
Groups
before and noticed that in non-pet newsgroups, requests for advice on
humane
removal are usually greeted with scorn.

Anyway, it's not as though this group is overwhelmed by the volume of
posts.

True..but I just wanted her to know that "getting rid of mice" is not what
one usually associates a pet mouse group with.

I sure do! So far, I have stabbed mice, spring trapped mice, and gassed
mice.

I used to keep mice as pets, but nevermore !

Gee, I wonder why the mice dont live very long in my house LOL

How are you defining "nature"? Because cats are domestic animals
descended
from an African wild cat, and mice are a transplanted species originally
from
Asia. Human-altered cats hunting non-native mice doesn't sound all that
"natural" to me.

Heather

Cats..not just domestic cats....will eat small
animals....birds,mice,rats,etc.

That's nature. If a cat does not get Taurine (which you get from meat) it
will be blind. Cats eat meat because it is their nature.
