haven't posted in a while -
Dipsith got sick yesterday. While I was at school my mom heard a loud
noise coming from upstairs were dipsith is so she went to check it out.
Dipsith was on the ground in some odd postion and couldn't get up. So,
she rushed her to the vet and left her there cuz she had to get to work.
My mom called me on my cell after school while I was on the bus and said
dipsith was at the vet. Luckily, she called at the right time because
the next bus stop was right down the street from the vet. So my sister
and I get off and walk down the road.
We get there and they show her to me, they said that she had a bad
head tilt and she had trouble standing up. They had trouble taking blood
because she's so small (netherland dwarf). they told me either she had a
middle ear infection, parasite, or some other thingy. She said they can
give her antibiotics or refer us to a specialist. I went out to the
waiting room and waited for my mom to come. Once she came the doctor
talked to her and then gave her the antibiotics. my mom refuses to go to
a specialist or anything cuz it will cost to much for her liking (just
to save a little rabbit that means nothing to her but means the world to
her daughter.)
So we braught Dipsith home and I stayed right beside her for the next
four to five hours. At first when ever she tried to move she'd start to
"flip out" but then she started to stand up. Then she was practicaly
fine except for the head tilt (ie she could eat, drink, wipe her face,
pee, poop, and almost walk and she was very curious). I noticed one eye
is really red, the vet said her eyes wern't dialted the same amount,
Dipsith used to get eye infections a lot, maybe this is a really bad eye
infection that spread to her ear???? so when she was fine, she would
fall over once in a while and then shake her head and ears for a minute
or two, shes done this about 3 times so far. Then I stayed with her all
night, I had an alarm on for every two hours except she kept waking me
up every twenty minutes.
I might have forgotten to mention something, so i'll post it later if I
remember. Thanks!! if anybody has any tips (or cures!) please help!!

Hi Amy. I'm sorry dipsith is feeling poorly, but it certainly sounds like
she's fighting! The headshaking ear thing sounds like some inner ear
problem. Did your vet do a test for e. cunniculi? The different dilation in
the eyes makes me think some sort of neurological dysfunction. The best news
is that it sounds like she's improving rapidly. What sort of antibiotic did
the vet give her?
We all know dipsith isn't "just a little rabbit" Amy. Sending huge healing
vibes to dipsith and hugs for you.

my bun had this a month ago;, we were ready to put her down but decided one
more medicine for her. Sheovercame this and is now fine. I do suggest putting
her in a cage with a blanket snuggly around her for balance. You may have to
hand feed and drink her. My bun loves to drink from a cup. Hold her often but
make her comfortable, mine loved to just lay against my chest. I do suggest
wiping her eyes with warm water. Mine also got the red eye. Hopefully she
willbe olk

amy, i'll keep dipsith in my prayers. i don't know if ronie has posted a
response but she knows all about head tilt. she can tell you what type of
medicine to buy (motion sickness) to help dipsith. it will keep her from
getting dizzy from the head tilt.
good luck and please let us know how she is.
