It has been quite a week. Friday night I got a bad feeling about Dawn.
a friend of mine, and couldn't find her phone number or address. So I
did a google search and found her name on a church's prayer list, so I
contacted the minister and asked her to say hi to Dawn. The minister
wrote me that Dawn was in a nursing home and wasn't expected to live
much longer. She had ovarian cancer. So saturday we went to visit her.
She opened her eyes and tried to talk, but couldn't, so she squeezed
my hand. I talked to her for a little while, then said goobye. :(
Sunday was the first anniversary of my mom's death, and I still miss
her so. Monday, Dawn died. I also had a very sick cat - Ceridwen was
vomiting and became dehydrated, so I took her to my regular vet, where
she got some fluids and a round of antibiotics. Tonight, Dwen started
crying, a very odd cry that I associate with a cat about to die. I
took her to the emergency vet. Her electrolytes were way out of
balance, and her body temp was 96 degrees F. Her kidneys are not
functioning as good as they should be, but they are still working a
little. The vet got her stabilized, and she was doing a bit better
before I left. Her temp was normal, and her electrolytes were coming
back in line. She will be there tonight, and I will pick her up to
take her to my regular vets in the a.m. I cuddled her a little and
kissed her goodnight several times. She was laying on the warming bed,
watching the tech's deal with an injured dog. It is still possible
she will go to the RB tonight, but the odds are a bit better now than
they were when I took her in. Sigh.
Tomorrow (29th) is my 49th birthday. I wonder what else can go wrong!

Purrs and prayers for things - and especially Dwen - to start getting
better. Maybe your birthday will be the start of a run of good things. I
hope so.

My fur kids are sending extra get well purrs for Ceridwen, and
I'll send extra good thoughts for the 29th to bring more positive
things your way. I'll be looking at as many positives as I can,
as it's my 44th birthday, so hopefully the thoughts will have a little
more kick to them...:)
Hang in there, and the Fairfax Fur Factory will try to actually
purr in harmony for a change!
Chris, Tripper, Katie and Hazard (and I'm sure the ferals I'm feeding
would add theirs if they could)
