Yay, Harv!!!

Poor, beat up Harv. I wish him a super speedy recovery.

Nosey question--did they just sew the eyelid shut after removing the
eye? I assume that's what they do, but I don't actually know.

Oh, hell. I hope the Prozac works.

I should think so! Maybe you should take Harv's example, and have
yourself a well deserved nap?

Back several dog lifetimes ago, I had a beagle with glaucoma. We treated it
with the drops as long as it helped.

When the lens broke loose in one eye, we had to make a decision about
surgeries. We were going to Cornell so had all the options that existed at
that time. (I don't know if there are more now or not.) They offered both
the eye sewn shut and the prosthetic eye for the same price. They said they
didn't want people choosing based on price but I suspect it was also.that
they wanted the surgical experience for their students. So we, of course,
chose the prosthesis.

You can tell how long ago that was based on what I recall of the price. I
remember it being something less than $500 total.

I don't remember any problems with Nikki's eye after that. After all, by
the time you do the surgery, they haven't had any sight there for a while.
And as gross sounding as it is, it isn't a big deal surgically.

Sending good thoughts for Harv. He's a very lucky boy.

I should add, *not* on the kitchen floor. I did that a few times in my
misspent youth, and while I wasn't much bothered at the time, due to
the liberal consumption of alcohol, I cannot exactly recommend it.

Poor harv! Poor you! You both deserve a rest!

Drug interactions are really hard to predict and keep track of. We had
Toby on Prozac for a long time, so Harv should do fine on it.
(Clomipramine didn't work on Toby for more than a few weeks.) And there
is now generic Prozac, I think, so it may not be too expensive, either.

Give yourself some much-needed relaxation. I suggest something with
kahlua in it.

The odds were with you, but it's still a relief. I'm glad.

Neuticals for the eye?

It's beginning to look like maybe the wrong dog was named Pirate <g>.

Gentle scritches to Harv and well-earned rest for the the whole crew.
