This morning Brenna, our last surviving hamster was helped over the Rainbow
Bridge. She was a beautiful Syrian girl was brought into the vet where my
daughter works as a PetCo reject. She had a weakened front arm that made her
un-sell-able. Apparently they dumped babies into the tank each week and
allowed her to become full grown. We brought her home that first night and
gave her the best a hammie could ask for...a clean tank, Care Fresh, a good
hamster mix, water and a Wodent. She loved and appreciated all of it, even
her Wodent with that weak limb. She preferred to be left alone, but would
tolerate some lovin' if we insisted. Brenna developed a very fast growing
tumor on her chest recently and we kept her comfortable. Today she wasn't
comfortable anymore and we helped her cross the Bridge. Now she has 4 strong
legs and no more pain...

RIP Brenna

Sharon

You have my condolences. That is, to say the least, no fun. In some ways
it's even rougher with a hamster than a dog or cat, I think, because of
their short lifespan.

When my son was little and his first goldfish died, he was beside
himself; when the second one died, it was a little easier; and by the
time the sixth or seventh one died, he'd just announce it, much the way
he might say "The mail's here." I figure it'd be a lot harder to be that
blase about hamsters, no matter how many you lose. You don't need me to
tell you that pets (defined here as "animals you can pet") are family
members, so it's always hard.

(Hope that's not too much of a downer....)

B

I`m sorry to hear such sad news. But you did what is so hard to do.
You gave Brenna a wonderful life and kept her free from pain.
Goodbye Brenna. Say hi to all my hammy friends who have passed
over the bridge

I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. I'm sure she's running around
full force all around the Bridge.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

Sharon, i am so sorry for your loss. I have no idea what you are going
through but im sure some day i will. I know Breanna loved living with you
as much as you loved living with her. And i agree with everyone else, she
is no longer in any pain and i commend you for having the strength to do
for her what you did.
