I have been putting vanilla on Smoky's and Midnight's heads and after a
few days they were fine together but then they started to fight again.
Midnight is going up to Smoky's back end and Smoky squeaks and runs away.

Smoky's tail has been taking a long time to heal after the first time
Midnight bit Smoky's tail. I give Smoky this natural remedy called
propolis, which my friend's mum advised me to use but it does not seem to
work. One night I did not let the mice out in my room and Smoky's tail was
looking all freshly cut so I think Smoky is harming her own tail and I am
wondering if Midnight is biting her tail too.

So has anyone got ideas for helping my two get on and help to heal Smoky's
tail, please? I know I can take Smoky to the vet but I was thinking there
may be other remedies out there.

Thanks for any help

have you tried a styptic (sp?) pencil like they sell for birds? its
supposed to stop bleeding right away.
i use something called colloidal silver, you can find it at many
healthfood stores or you can order it online. it is an antibacterial.
it seems to promote fast healing.
are your mice the same age? new home? im not sure why they are still
doing this. sure there are a few squabbles at first, but repeated tail
biting?
good luck

if one mouse is injuring another then you need to put them in separate cages -
maybe next to each other, maybe far apart. that's the single best thing you
can do to heal the injury.

My two are separated at the moment but I had been letting them out in my
room together with vanilla on their heads and Midnight used to go up to
Smoky's backside and Smoky would squeak. When I noticed that Smoky had
fresh cuts on her tail, I was thinking that it was Midnight cutting her
tail, but I found out today that it's Smoky herself because they have not
been near each other recently, but Smoky still has fresh cuts.

Smoky is a bit older then Midnight (about four months max). They got on
well when there was a male in the cage which I thought was female.
Midnight does show dominance over Smoky, so I would have thought of
Midnight attacking Smoky (knowing her) but she did not.

Midnight and Smoky did squabble in the cage they were originally in after
Moonlight (their mother) died. She was the dominant mouse living with
them. Before moonlight died they were fine together.

do your mice have mites? last summer one of my girls just started
chewing herself, relentlessly. it was very gross. i took her to the
vet and he said the best thing to do would be to put her down. he also
said that they always have mites but if they are sick or unhappy
mentally the mites bloom (like algae i guess) and just make the poor
mouse crazy.
i use ivermectin for mites on the girls. they get 1/100 of a cc once
every two weeks. i get it from my vet. it is a cattle worming
medicine.
good luck

I will get my friends mum to check Smoky over. She used to work in a
vet's, so she should know about that sort of thing. Smoky can be nervous
at times but she has always been like that. Sometimes I can take her out
of the cage without her being jittery in my hand. Last night she just
walked up onto my hand with no problem. She is not usually that outgoing.
The last two nights Midnight has got up on top of Smoky's cage and Smoky
has got up onto the bars and wherever Midnight walks, Smoky follows. They
have been sticking their noses through the bars and there has not been any
squabbling. I wish they got on like this when they were out in the room
together a few weeks ago. It would make life easier then letting them out
separately.

Thanks,
