That is your description. What makes your dog attractive to a potential
adoptee at all? The fact that he is a mixed breed and "not a bad dog"?
There are literally thousands of unwanted animals all over the globe, and
many of them are housebroken, obedience trained, and perfectly well behaved
animals---and plenty of them are euthanized in shelters without being
adopted. When an adoptor has a choice between one of those and the juvenile
delinquent you've created, what on earth is going to make them want to adopt
yours? Unless they are adopting for something nefarious where temperament
and behavior mean nothing because the dog isn't going to live long anyway.
If you cannot be a responsible pet owner and use the resources that are
available to train your animal to become a better family member, then don't
pass along the murder to someone else. Take the responsibility for your
actions. You are the one who created an unadoptable juvenile delinquent out
of a probably sweet but rambunctious puppy. It would be the same if you
tried to raise a child without guidelines and education. You'd end up with
a pretty shitty acting kid, and it'd be your own fault. Sadly, you have
lots of company, as most dogs that are surrendered to shelters are between 6
and 18 months of age--with behavioral problems created by lack of
socialization and training. You are NOT going to be able to rehome this dog
unless you put some serious effort into correcting some of these behavioral
issues. He does deserve a chance for a good life, but you are the one who
promised him that and failed to deliver. If you can't give him the life he
deserves, then please do kindly euthanize him. A good death beats a shitty
life tied to a rope and neglected.
