hiya everybody

i've been looking around the past few years in my area for a dog show i
could attend and only found two.
this tells me i am probably looking in all the wrong places, there is a
piece in the ad trader that advertise dog events but they are all too
far (norfolk) i dont mind essex too much but nothing much in suffolk is
printed there.

where do i need to be looking?

if anyone can help cheers xx dg.

I'm not sure what Companion Shows are, but if they're what are
called "Fun Matches" in my area, you may want to search more
specifically on "agility fun match", or "obedience fun match",
or whatever flavour you're looking for. If you're looking for
obedience, check out Rally-O.

ta rocky.yes companion shows are just shows that non kc dogs can
compete in and basically just fun so they would be the same.

Have you talked to the local kennel clubs and, best of all, the local
dog training clubs? The latter should know about obedience "fun
matches" and other less-formal obedience events, because that's the
best place to take your dog to practice. Same with kennel clubs with
an emphasis on conformation (breed), kc members are among those who
will want to take their own young or inexperienced dogs to "fun
matches" to get them some experience in a low-pressure environment.

Here in the U.S. at least, it's easy to find a full-blown dog show
and/or obedience trial; they're listed far ahead of time in the dog
press, notably the AKC Gazette and Dog WORLD iirc, and posted on the
web sites of the major show superintendent companies. Finding the
local show-and-go and fun matches is far more difficult.
