it's so confusing. on one hand vets are telling us to feed her a complete
dried food, such as pedigree puppy complete, on the other hand they swear by
tripe, raw bones, raw meat, raw practically anything. The breeder feeds all
her dogs on tripe and when we gradually weaned "honey" onto Eukanuba she had
progressively worse "runs". We put her back on tripe etc. and the runs soon
went. Later we tried the Pedigree complete and back came the runs - so,
back to tripe etc. and all seems well. Any views on this - or your
experiences would help.

John,
Ask your breeder for the recipe for her dog food, amounts/ingredients.
Seems it agrees with your dog so as long as you don't mind feeding a raw
diet and have the time and resources, done properly, it won't hurt her.
Cheers

The breeder I got my GSD off of gave me loads of bones and tripe to feed my
dog on.
Binned as soon as I got home I might add.
If your dog has a funny tummy may I suggest a couple of things.
As a Labrador is the larger breed .
Then what ever food you decide on should be formulated dog food.."for the
larger breed puppy."
I used James wellbeloved .
I know a man who has to feed his Labrador on it because of the tummy.
The vet did told him to do so.
No the vet does not sell it before anyone comments.
Or I find Butchers tripe in tins very very good on a dogs tummy.
I also would say do not give the dog to many roughage biscuits.
If I give mine to much roughage that will occur.
Good luck hope this will be of help.
Pat.
