Archived from groups: alt>pets>dogs>labrador (more info?)

Hi

I have not posted here for quite some time but am looking for some feedback
and general advice please. As you may remember I have two labradors a female
Molly and a male Benson who are both quite young. Molly is now 7 months and
Benson is a year and 4 months. I have always had feeding problems with the
two labs constantly struggling to keep the weight on them both. For a little
while they seem to pick up and put the weight on and then what seems like an
overnight thing they will lose the weight and look very skinny to the point
you can see there ribs, Benson is the wost of the two. Seems to always lose
the weight when it gets chilly which makes sense I suppose as they are using
the body fat to keep warm but we make a point of upping the food in take
when its colder and not really got that excuse anymore as the weather is
getting much warmer. They are currently fed on the larger tins of pedigree
chum mixed with complete dry food. We have tried them on various other foods
but the only thing that DOES NOT seem to upset there tummys is the pedigree
chum. If we try to change there diet to anything else such as a supposed
better diet they suffer terrible however slow of change over we try. Any
advice really appritieated, please do not shout at me if you think I am
doing anything wrong as I really am trying and just want the best for my
babies. Its horrible seeing them looking so skinny. They are both wormed
regulary.

Two things that I can think of off hand. Both of which happened to my
lab/border collie mix

1. Labs love to eat all kinds of things. I had this problem with him and
took him to the vet. He had acorn shells in his stools, and also had
stones in his stomach. In a few days, everything went through and all was
OK.

2. Worms? Mine had hook worm, even though I gave him a heart worm medican
that the vet said should take care of ALL types of worms, he still had
hook worm.

The bottom line, take them to a vet and see what he says.
