I've heard this suggestion before, and have meant to do it, but haven't
been consistent, so it's good to hear it again. I think I will put a
schedule into my calendar so that I remember to do it.

I leave the nail trimmers on the coffee table (in the remote basket,
actually). That way, I can grab them and trim while I'm watching
TV. It usually works out to once every week or so. I use side-cut
trimmers, which makes it very easy to slice off waffer-theen
shavings of nail.

Thanks, I'll try that (if I get the Dremel).

I have another question: what model or type of Dremel do you have and
like? And what about other people? They are selling one that is
specifically for dog grooming which they claim is pretty quiet, but has a
short battery life (according to reviews). Which one do people like best?
Thanks.

I've got a corded one, as I think they're more powerful. It's got a
flexi-wand attachment thingy that allows you to control the business
end like you would a pencil.
I don't use it for dog nails, though I should maybe try it. It's
hugely useful around the house and for arting, though. I even cut
Masonite with it a few days ago. I have not, however, used it for
DIY dental work.

I got the 10.8V Lithium-ion. I like to be able to use it
places where I don't necessarily have access to an electric
outlet. I've been happy with it but I don't have anything
to compare it to.

Other dog people with Dremel experience recommended a cordless, so that's
what I got. This one says Dremel Lithium-Ion cordless (10.8 Volt).
> And what about other people?
From what I've read, the cordless is less noisy, and of course, easier to
use because you don't have to worry about dogs and cords and outlets.
Personally, I think that the noise is less of an issue than the sensation of
the thing against the nail, when it comes to freaking them out.

I'm happy with the one I've got. It lasts my two dogs a couple of months
between charges, with me doing the nails weekly. There was one time when it
ran out of gas when I was in the middle of Dremeling Khan, and you really
could see the relief in his face.

Another advantage of the cordless - at least the cordless we have versus the
corded we have - is that the cordless is a little slower. That's actually a
good thing because the corded version ground faster than our old reflexes
responded. Also it seemed like the faster version got hotter - which the
dogs definitely reacted to.

Now I would like to apologize to Melinda for teasing her. The dremel
really does sound like a handy tool. The dental work thing was funny,
though. As you know.

When I told my dentist about it she pointed to the drill and
asked "What do you think that is?"

Makes perfect sense to me. Why have hamburger cheek when you can
easily fix it yourself?
> But as I said, I find those things really, really handy.
Yes. It's the Swiss army knife of electric tools. I don't know how
on earth I ever lived without one.
