Hi, can you see by the excrements if the fish are in good condition or not ?
My goldfishes often have a light browngrey color othertimes dark almost
black color.
When I started with some new fishpondsticks it is red.
Is it normal theese excrements are very long 3-4 cm long, or is it me
overfeeding them ?

Emil

Their poop does change colour depending on what they are eating but it
shouldn't really come out in long strings. This probably means they are a
bit constipated. Feeding deshelled chopped peas (frozen will do) a couple of
times a week should remedy this. Try to vary their diet a bit as well as
this will help. Goldies enjoy most fruit and veg as a treat as well as
bloodworm and brineshrimp.

Emil,

Funny you should mention this. I just started giving my
Moors fish sticks yesterday (soaked first). Their pooh is
not coming out the same colour. This is nothing to worry
about. Just ensure you vary their diet - stops them
getting bored and is good for them.

You deshell the peas as the skins are less edible than the soft bit in the
middle. It also makes them more digestable.

If they're very small fish, I recommend putting the peeled peas in a garlic
crusher. If there's any garlic residue in the crusher it'll drive the fish
crazy for the peas (they seem to love the stuff, but I wouldn't recommend
giving it to them in a pure form) This'll ensure that the peas are crushed
up very small and they'll sink better too! (no mouth obstructions)
