We've just found out that our ball python has done a magical disappearing
act, and my other half is freaking out, as we've not seen her since
Wednesday night when she was fed.
The room that she is kept in has a doorway (no door) into the kitchen, and
one out to the garage, and also patio doors to the garden. I've been at
home ill and have had all the doors open.
We're going to try the trick with towels and heat mats, but what do you
reckon the chances are of the snake having made a bid for freedom into the
outside world of the garden/garage instead of the warmer (by comparison)
house. Sorry to ask such a dim question, but I'm going to follow it up by
another. KNowing that Sophie (the royal) could be anywhere, what are the
chances of finding her upstairs in the bedrooms? I'm freaking out about
this incase she's hungry cos we have a 2 year old toddler and don't want
anything nastly to happen.
Any info would be gratefully received.
Cheers

Hi
The chance that the snake has run outside is a big question that depends on
where you live but is it in the "hot" states the chance that you will see
her aganin is vervy small....
Have you checked under the hood on th car....
The last advice that I can give you is that you can call someone who deals
with, (don't know if it is right), pest...
Or a dog dogs are use to smell and are good snake trackers....
Pleace write back if you find it or not.
Yours Per Pedersen

Hi
We live in the South West of the UK. Temperatures here outside are
currently about 20 degrees celcius, so I would hence imagine (hope!) that
she has stayed indoors!
Thanks!

How big is the snake? I had one plus a Burmese too & my ball python
wasn't really that big. Check your clothes especially the long
sleeves. It could be anywhere. If you fed it a few days ago there's a
good chance he' or she's not hungry right now. Was your snake handled
alot by you & the family or just left by itself. >> Stay informed about: another escapee snake - help |

Start searching systematicly along the floor. Start with the room where it
was kept. Concentrate on the floor and up to about 2 feet of height. Check
all holes and openings, Behind shelfts and books, behind/under stove and
fridge (electrical apps generate heat!!). I would think the snake hasn't
travelled far, and when it has found a secure place it would most likely
stay there for several days. Close all doors. Use flour and sprincle it
along walls as the snake is most likely to travel along walls, and not cross
rooms. It is most likely to move during night. Then its feedingtime again,
and if you still haven't found your Ball, try to put heated food to her at
several locations, in the evening. Use the flour trix again.
Good luck. Keep us postet on your progress..

Hi
Earlier on today we spotted Sophie (the BP) heading back into her viv of her
own accord!!!!
We suspect she may be part homing pigeon as we've never heard of one come
home of it's own accord! Our corn snake was watching her very interestedly,
so I hope he's not been getting ideas ...
Thanks for the advice!!!!
Jon, (relived) Jo & 2 yr old Amber
PS anyone know of any contacts in the SW UK?
