Ok, story I have to share.. mostly so everyone else with new little ones
(ok, not so new...) will be prepared!!
Last night hubby and I pulled a couple of our little 3 week olds out of
their cage to play with. We set them on the bed so we could try to get a
few photos as well. We got PW and one of her sisters. I picked up the
camera to get some shots of PW (even got a few seconds of video of her
walking.. it's so cute, she kinda has a duck waddle going on...) when next
thing we knew, her sister took off running for the edge of the bed and
jumped off. I mean she flew..
First thing we did was get PW safely put away and then we made sure her
sister was still in our room and hadn't taken off down the hall. The dogs
hadn't noticed anything was going on, but to be safe, we got them safelt
settled (and made sure that Pepe had a leash on, just in case she cornered
it first. Then we closed the door and stuffed a blanket under it so she
couldn't get out.
Then carefully cleared everything out from around the walls that we could
and started seriously looking around under things. We soon spotted her
under the bed, so set up a little "trap" for her. We got one of the tunnels
from their cage, stuffed some litter from the cage in it, and hubby taped a
little cardboard flap to the open end... she could push in easy, but it
would be hard to push back out. We set this near the head of the bed along
the wall where we'd seen her running, and waited. Took about an hour and a
half (mostly with me on the floor, peering under the bed to keep track of
her) but we finally got her to run into the tunnel and back into her cage
with momma and all the rest...
Lesson Learned. Never have more then one out at a time when attempting to
photograph. and Always move others into the "holding" tank....
She was returned safely though, no harm, just a bit of excitement for
all....

*whew* Glad everyone got home okay! Now you know why that age is
referred to as the "flea" or "hopper" stage....
